Gulet route vanuit Bodrum

Day 1 Boarding the yacht in Bodrum, we enjoy a ‘welcome aboard’ drink with our captain and crew. A short briefing from the captain ensures everyone is familiar with the yacht and what we will do during the week to come. We settle in and have dinner aboard, in the harbour.

Day 2 Our first cruise of the day takes us to Kara island, just south of Bodrum. Here, we swim, explore the rocky shores and test the waters of the island's hot springs. After lunch, we cruise to the Southern side of the Gulf of Gokova, arriving at Cati in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in Cati.

Day 3 After breakfast, we depart for Yedi Adalari (the Seven Islands), a cruise of just over one hour. Once tucked in behind the islands, we find a quiet anchorage at Kufre Bay and take a walk ashore through a forest of amber trees. This is the Turkey you've dreamed about! There may be the chance of a barbecue dinner tonight.

Day 4 Morning swims will become part of your daily regime! We cruise mid-morning to Longoz Bay, our beautiful, pine-forested lunch stop. The next stop after Longoz is Karacasogut, a small village only 25 minutes from Marmaris. For those who wish to spend a night out in Marmaris, a minibus service departs from the town centre. Dinner and overnight in Karacasogut.

Day 5 Today we cruise north east to Sedir Adasi (Cleopatra‘s island), the site of ancient Cedrae. For those who wish to explore the ruins ashore and take a swim at Cleopatra‘s beach (the sand was reputedly brought here from Africa especially for Cleopatra!), there is an option to do just this. In the afternoon, we cruise to our overnight anchorage on the eastern side of Degirmen Buku. This spot is known locally as 'English Harbour', as British torpedo boats hid here during World War II. We spend much of our time here swimming, snorkeling and windsurfing.

Day 6 After cruising the to the northern side of the gulf, we stop for lunch and a swim at Akbuk, a small bay set at the foot of a huge mountain. Continuing our journey in the afternoon, we arrive at our last stop for the day at Cokertme Bay – another spectacular anchorage.

Day 7 A leisurely return to Bodrum, with swimming stops at Orak island and / or Yaliciftlik, both of which offer crystal clear waters. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner together at the overnight anchorage - Bitez or Bodrum Harbour.

Day 8 We disembark in Bodrum after breakfast.

Marmaris – Ekincik – Kaunos – Gulf of Fethiye – Turunc – Marmaris

Day 1 Board the yacht in Marmaris Yacht Marina and sail for Kumlu Buku for a relaxing afternoon of swimming and perhaps a walk to the ruins of ancient Amos. Dinner ashore at Kumlu Buku Yacht Club at the southern end of the bay, enjoying some fine Turkish wines and cuisine.

Day 2 Following breakfast we cruise to Ekincik Bay, where we will leave our yacht for an afternoon tour of ancient Caunos and Dalyan. We make our way inland along the reed-lined channels of the Dalyan River delta, keeping an eye out for turtles, herons and kingfishers. At Caunos we visit the remains of a theatre, a Byzantine church, a Roman bath house and an Agora before passing underneath a spectacular set of Lycian rock tombs, carved into the cliff face above the Dalyan River. Return to the yacht and enjoy a meal at the 'My Marina'; restaurant, the views from which are superb.

Day 3 After a morning's sail south-east from Ekincik, we round Cape Kurdoglu and drop anchor in Kizilkuyruk Harbour. After lunch there is the opportunity to swim, snorkel, waterski and windsurf in the sheltered waters of the bay, or to take an overland hike to the ruins of ancient Lydae in the hills. Our overnight destination in the picturesque Skopea Liman is Manastir Bay, where we can swim over the partially submerged ruins of a monastery. Dinner ashore in the rustic restaurant overlooking Cleopatra's Bay.

Day 4 Crossing the Gulf of Fethiye, we reach Gemiler Island by lunchtime. Following a relaxing afternoon of swimming and snorkelling over sunken ruins, we take a tender boat ashore to explore the island. Walk around the remains of a sizeable Byzantine settlement and see a beautiful mosaic in one of the churches. Marvel at the covered walkway and peer into dwellings and a cistern. Take advantage of the fabulous view from the summit and sitting down with champagne glass in hand watch the sun set over the sea. Dinner ashore or on board.

Day 5 In the morning, we cruise to Bestas Harbour, and take a steady climb along a marked track to the deserted Greek village of Kaya Koy, 45 minutes away. Kaya Koy has a mysterious air about it and its very size gives us an idea as to the extent of its former glory. From here it is possible to rendezvous with a guide and minibus and take a day trip to the archeological sites of Xanthos, Patara and Letoon. At the end of the day, we will meet up with our yacht in Fethiye Harbour and either stay in the harbour or in a nearby anchorage.

Day 6 Cruise to Deep Bay for a morning swim in crystal-clear waters, followed by lunch. Moving on to Kapi Creek, we find yet another attractive setting with some interesting ruins of old dwellings, one of which has a triple-vaulted roof . Dine on board or ashore under the pine trees.

Just before sunset, make your way to the summit and enjoy the magnificent spectacle of the sun disappearing below the horizon. Overnight at Gemiler Island, with dinner onboard or ashore.

Day 3 Cruise past the Seven Capes to Kalkan, stopping for lunch at Kotu Burnu if the weather permits. Kalkan is a pretty coastal town set on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean. Once moored in the small attractive harbour, go ashore to explore the narrow streets where bougainvillea and jasmine spill from the balconies and the local vendors sell an amazing variety of merchandise. Dine ashore in one of Kalkan's quaint restaurants.

Day 4 To the region known as the Kekova Roads for a visit Kekova Island, Ucagiz and Kale Koy (ancient Simena). The ‘sunken city’; is located off Kekova Island and as the water is exceptionally clear, it is possible to make out the outlines of the buildings. Following an earthquake, the land subsided and took the remains of a settlement with it. Ucagiz is a small village with a couple of restaurants. Take a walk from here to view rock-tombs, the remains of a fort and several sarcophagi. The highlight of a visit to the Kekova Roads follows an uphill climb to the medieval fortress of ancient Simena, crowning the hill above the village of Kale Koy. The view from the top is breathtaking.

Day 5 After breakfast, cruise for the delightful seaside town of Kas and spend the afternoon exploring the pretty harbour streets. If there is time, take an overland minibus tour to the ruins of three Lycian cities: Xanthos, Patara and Letoon and learn a little of the history of these proud people.
